We Need Fathers

“So if you sinful people know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your heavenly Father give good gifts to those who ask him.”

Mat 7:11.

The greatest calling a man can have on his life is that of being a father. It is a role that is underestimated by many and trivialised by some others. Our nation is in crisis because of a lack of good fathers. If our nation is to have a future then Australia needs its men to stand up and be fathers to the next generation of children.

It is easy to make babies…but it takes character, effort and love to be a father to those children. And when your children are grown it is your calling to pray for your children each and every day.

Gentlemen, let’s imitate our Heavenly Father and model before our own children, and the children within our church who may not have a resident dad, what it means to be a godly man. Let’s model integrity, purity, love, patience, discipline, kindness and strength of character before the eyes of our young ones. The next generation needs good fathers.

A Cheerful Heart

“A cheerful heart is good medicine, but a broken spirit saps a person’s strength.”

Proverbs 17:22.

When was the last time you had a good ‘belly laugh’? When was the last time you laughed so much that tears ran down your face? Can you remember when it was? If you are struggling to remember the last time you had a good laugh then you are not laughing enough!

Of course life is tough (at times). Yes, life is serious. Yes, we have struggles and problems. Yes, we have disappointments and regrets. However, we know that God is still on the throne. We know that in all things God is working for the good of those who love him. We know that when life finally finishes we will step into our reward.

Therefore, in view of what Christ has done and in view of the Promises and God’s Word…we have a legitimate right to laugh and be joyful.

A cheerful heart might not mean you are laughing all the time but it certainly means you treat yourself to a good laugh on a regular basis.

And science even agrees that a cheerful heart sprinkled with laughter is huge health benefits. Come on…smile!
